The actual plan for the six months to June

4 Jan

The previous post was a list of all the irons I currently have in the fire or, to be more precise, the irons I can remember that I have in the fire. There are to many.

If I’m to keep the plan plausible, there’s no point aiming it beyond June. Who knows what could happen in six months!

So this is the plan then………

The Plan for the first half of 2024 – stuff that needs to be progressed before June
The projectLonger term TargetBefore June

Shiny 30mm ACWTo complete the project. Nine infantry regiments. Six USA, three CSA. Then it’s done!Do a USA brigade of three regiments. I’ll need to drop cast some figures.
Shiny Classic 25mm NapoleonicAt least two brigades of French infantry + skirmishers and command, and two units of cavalry, any French ally. One brigade and one cavalry unit done buy the end of April. The remainder by the end of the year. No purchase necessary.
Saga AncientsA complete Persian or Indian army, ready to fight (fantasy version!).For the game with Pemps. By the end of April (this may change to the end of September).
10mm ACWI need enough bases to play a reasonable size Fire and Fury game, so a couple of hundred more bases.By the end of the year but this needs to be continually moving forward. I probably have all the figures I need but must check before the next Newline sale.
10mm sceneryEnough to set up a 5’ x 4’ F&F gameAs above.
Gateway AllianceTo complete the project. The Black Watch. Then it’s done!By June. Half the rank and file are already drop cast, and the command are on order from Minden in the US.
Shiny Classic MedievalI’ve had a rethink about this project. A small army based on the inherited Lamming stuff, plus a few random bits.Four units done and based by the end of June. No purchases necessary.

And because every post should have a piccie…..

Part of my Saga ‘Persian’ army (don’t ask).

    • That will be fine. Like I said before, if you paint a unit, so will I……within a month of you finishing yours (you’ll have to sell me the figures though).

  1. Great to see the Gateway Alliance getting a bit of love. I also want a small unit of highlanders to complete my SSM armies (plus a squadron of hussars and two of cuirassiers and then it’s definitely done). It will have to wait as Peter sold the SSM range to Wee Wolf in the ‘States and they are out action while they get their furnace switched to propane..
Still got way too much else to get on with anyway – my latest has just been posted on Lee’s Figure Painting therapy site – not great photos but…

  2. Hello Rob,

As you know, the Gateway is entirely imaginary and supposedly based on regiments raised from the tenants of fabulously wealthy Essex country estate owners. Not many Highlanders then!
But, I couldn’t resist adding Long’s Regiment (which became the 44th Foot East Essex Regiment), and then The Royal Fusiliers (the London Regiment – almost Essex). So, why not add the Black Watch, my father’s regiment? He lived in Essex!
I made a marching Highlander to match the other SSM marching types and drop cast a dozen or so. Sadly, I’m thinking I’ve got the drape of the plaid wrong, so I may have to re do it. I’ll post some piccies and you can tell me what you think. If you like them, and if the mould holds up, you’re welcome to a regiment. You’ll have to make your own arrangements for command figures though.
I did see your gorgeous ECW Prince Rupert’s regiment on Lee’s site. Like I say, it’s gorgeous, and seeing it brought back memories.
    All the best
    Iain
